Grace Over Pressure

Brian Sooy • May 07, 2020

Are leaders born or made?

Leaders are refined and distilled over time. The distillation process involves heat and pressure, and the result is the essence of the opportunities, experiences, and time that went into it.

Heat and pressure are intended to break down and strengthen that which is weak.

When we turn to Jesus as a leadership example, we have to remember that the pressure of growing up under an oppressive regime strengthened him for his ministry years.

Jesus was “...a man of sorrows, familiar with suffering. He was despised like one from whom people turn their faces, and we didn’t consider him to be worth anything...” (Isaiah 53:3 GW).

Will you succumb to pressure, or rely on grace over weakness?

There will always be pressure on you. The weight of the past prepared you for the challenges you face today. Today’s challenges prepare you to manage what comes next.

In every circumstance, God reminds you, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”

Lord, I know these tough times will pass. I’m doing the best I can to trust in you. Thank you for refining and strengthening me. Amen.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that simply belonging is enough.
